Liebherr’s new 100-tonne off-highway mining truck T 236

November 2 2017
On the occasion of the Liebherr Information Tour for the International Construction Trade Press was shown the 100-tonne T 236 off-highway mining truck - the most recent product development of Liebherr’s Mining Division. This new rigid-frame dump truck with a diesel electric drive system is Liebherr’s entry into the 100 tonne class and is the first in this class with a 4-corner, oil immersed braking

Today the T 236 has successfully completed the testing phase and has recently started its first field operation trials at the Erzberg Iron mine in Austria,  the perfect facility to allow the
T 236 to demonstrate:

Efficiency by controlling the engine independently from the drive, it will optimize the fuel consumption.
Productivity as the result of an optimal power availability from the diesel-electric drive at any grade.
Safety for operators with 4-corner wet brake control and excellent in-cab visibility, and also for maintenance personnel with the Drive System Inhibit.
Reliability of Liebherr-developed innovative technologies, like the powertrain and Drive System isolation.
Customer service and product support in alignment of Liebherr’s vertical integration philosophy, as well as being able to tailor each machine to the customer’s specific requirements.

All of these design features combine to ensure benefit to the Environment and provide reduction in our customers’ costs. Specifically, the Active Front End control and electric drive work in harmony to use less fuel and cause less wear on components: translating directly to a cost-saving.
